Filing taxes is not always an easy task. But for some, the costs of filing their tax return is their biggest hurdle. The Canada Revenue Agency's Volunteer Income Tax Program was created to assist those in need with volunteers offering their accounting services free of charge through a number of clinics. In Woodstock, Ronald Watts coordinates clinics at the Salvation Army Thrift Store and Public Library. Watts says people should bring all of their information slips with them but they offer "a screening sheet that they will complete. Part of it is a check-off sheet to remind them of various things that we might need which would include rent receipts or tax bills, charitable donations, medical receipts; if we have students, what do they have in the way of student loans information". There are clinics being held in Tillsonburg and Ingersoll which are organized by a separate group of volunteers. In Woodstock, the clinics are taking place March 20, 22, 26, 29 and April 3, 10, 12, 17, 19, 23, 26. The times are 10-11 am at the Salvation Army Thrift Store on Huron Street, and 2-4 pm at the Woodstock Public Library.
