Police are looking for more information after a dog was found dead on a trail in Beachville.
BEACHVILLE - An investigation is underway after a dog was found dead in Beachville.
Oxford OPP say the husky had been reported missing on Sunday, after it's owner took it for a walk on the Carmeuse Limestone Trail.
The dog broke free and ran into a nearby wooded area. The owner searched for their missing pet but was unable to track them down.
Constable Ed Sanchuk says the owner returned to the area yesterday and found their dog deceased close to an old rail line. It appears the cause of death was from an unknown projectile.
"Right now it's unknown if that was from a round or from an arrow. We just really don't know right now."
Sanchuk is encouraging anyone with information to come forward.
"If anyone has that information we're asking them to have that courage to contact Oxford County OPP. We want to try to bring some resolution to the family to determine exactly what happened or why this happened. We are looking for some information from the public and there is definitely somebody out there that knows something about this investigation."
Those who wish to submit an anonymous tip should call Crime Stoppers.
There is a post circulating around on Facebook which suggests the dog could have gone by the name BoBear.
When asked Sanchuk was unable to confirm this information. However the owner of BoBear has posted on social media that it was BoBear that was shot.
