The Royal Canadian Legion Poppy Campaign runs from the last Friday in October to Remembrance Day.
WOODSTOCK - The Royal Canadian Legion officially launched their annual Poppy campaign today.
In Woodstock the local legion made stops at the City Hall and MPP Ernie Hardeman's office today handing out poppy boxes. Hardeman explains what it means to him when he see's people wearing the poppy.
"The poppy is an important symbol to honour Canada’s fallen and remind us of the sacrifices made by these brave men and women who fought to protect our freedoms. I proudly wear my poppy each November and I am proud to support those who fought for our democracy by having a poppy box in my office each year."
Hardeman actually introduced a private members bill three years ago that allows MPP's to have the poppy donation boxes at their constringency offices.
The Royal Canadian Legion Poppy Campaign runs from the last Friday in October to Remembrance Day. During this time they distribute over 18 million poppies and raise $14 million to help veterans.
