Council gets a look at the 2014 Drinking Water System Performance Report
OXFORD COUNTY - The 2014 Oxford County Drinking Water System Performance report has been released to the public. The report provides drinking water results on 17 municipal drinking water systems. For one County Councillor there was something that stuck out.
"Well in the waste water annual report quite noticeable was a significant spill from the Innerkip pumping station and so I was asking for an explanation on that, and everything was fully disclosed and that was a good thing," said East-Zorra Tavistock Mayor Don McKay.
Other highlights of the report included results of around 4000 bacteriological samples taken of drinking water.
"...So bacteriological samples are tested for e.coli, total coliforms and 25% are analyzed for heterotrophic plate count, in this case there's 8 samples which showed total coliforms," said Rob Walton, Director of Public Works.
Several steps are taken when samples come back as adverse.
"As soon as possible we're notified by the lab of the result, we then have to do a notification of spills action centre at the Ministry of Environment and climate change as well as our own public health emergency services..."
