East Zorra Tavistock experienced a boost in building in 2017.
EAST ZORRA TAVISTOCK - It certainly was a great year for East Zorra Tavistock.
Mayor Don McKay says they've witnessed a boom in building in the township.
"Our building permit values are almost triple the usual. We're up to $44 million in the first 10 months of 2017, so that's a record breaking year and we're just thrilled to see that excitement. It's diversified, its agriculture new buildings, rural homes as well as several new homes in Innerkip and Tavistock."
McKay says they are looking to address their office space issue in 2018.
"Right now we've kind of narrowed it down after lengthy consultations to possibly a new build. Leaning towards Tavistock if it's a new build with its services in a more built up community, or possibly looking at a short term lease for office space."
McKay does add all options are on the table as they consider the new location of the office.
He is also getting ready to go into his final year as Mayor, after announcing he will not run for the honour in next year's municipal election. He describes his 15 year term as a very satisfying and rewarding experience.
