OPP are warning the public about fake American money circulating in Perth County.
PERTH COUNTY - Perth County OPP are warning the public about some counterfeit money that is being handed out in the region.
Counterfeit USA bills have been circulating in the community. Retailers have the right to refuse payments made with large bills and can request an alternative method.
Police say counterfeit cash will often vary in size, paper consistency and wording. The fake dough circulating right now in Perth County has words written in different languages.
Legal Canadian currency contains several security features. All bills in current circulation are made of polymer. The texture is smooth and areas will contain raised ink. The transparent sections should be seen on both sides of the bill, and details will be present in the metallic images. Flipping the bill over, the metallic images should be repeated in the same colours and details.
