Thousands of people have flocked to Woodstock for Canada's Outdoor Farm Show
WOODSTOCK - The Farm Show has officially taken over Woodstock and Oxford County.
Over 43,000 people are expected to take in the show this year. Farmers who take in the show will get to see the latest technology available in agriculture and plenty of demonstrations on new equipment and farming methods. Spokesperson for Canada's Outdoor Farm Show Murray Logan tells Heart FM there will be plenty to see and do over the next few days.
" We have a wide selection of new equipment options, we have some very exciting demonstrations happening out in the demo fields, speed tillage, we are looking at different types of corn stock recovery, bailers, we have six different companies demonstrating large scale bailing."
Logan says Dairy farmers will not be disappointed with the Dairy innovation centre this year which will feature all of the latest technology. Over 60 dairy cows will be at the farm show with features on new automated feeding technology. Logan also encourages people to check out the section on renewable energy development that looks at using things like natural gas to power farm equipment and big trucks.
Woodstock Mayor Trevor Birtch was on hand for the opening ceremonies and says this show is great for the local economy.
"It's great for all of our local restaurants and hotels, it's really good for our economy and then a lot of these individuals end up coming back in the future to get a more in depth look at the area, so it's not just about these next few days it is about all of these relationships that are built for the future."
Birtch encouraged everyone to come back to Woodstock and to check out tourism oxford.ca. He notes Woodstock is the perfect place for this type of an event because of our location on the 401 and 403 and because we are the Dairy Capital of Canada.
