OPP closed down a section of Oxford Road 29 and Oxford Road 22 to investigate a fatal crash involving a transport truck.
BLANDFORD BLENHEIM TOWNSHIP - Police are investigating a two vehicle crash involving a transport truck that resulted in a fatality.
The collision happened around 3:30 yesterday afternoon on Oxford Road 29 and Oxford Road 22 in Blandford Blenheim Township.
The transport truck was traveling eastbound on Oxford 29, when police say it struck the car which was traveling southbound on Oxford Road 22. The transport truck and trailers left the roadway and flipped over. The intersection at the collision scene is controlled by stop signs for north and southbound traffic on Oxford Road 22.
The adult male driver of the car was airlifted to hospital with life threatening injuries. He was pronounced deceased at the hospital later in the evening. The identity of the driver is no being released at this time.
The adult male driver of the transport truck was transported to area hospital with minor injuries.
All emergency services assisted with the crash. Blandford Blenheim Township Fire Department, Oxford County Paramedics, and Ornge Air assisted at the scene.
Police closed the roadway for several hours to allow the OPP Technical Collision Investigators to process the scene of the collision.
Update (4:36 p.m.) - Oxford OPP have identified the deceased as 84 year old Walter Israel of Kitchener.
