Southwestern Public Health's mass COVID-19 immunization clinics in Woodstock and St. Thomas will close for good after 4:00 p.m. today.
WOODSTOCK - An era is ending as Southwestern Public Health closes the doors to its mass immunization clinics in Woodstock and St. Thomas.
Today is the last day the clinics will be open for walk-in appointments before they both close for good at 4:00 p.m. The organization says the decision was easy to make, now that the surge of COVID-19 related appointments has decreased.
The health unit began its vaccination campaign in March 2021, and it grew to become the largest undertaking in the organization’s history. At their peak the clinics vaccinated more than 2,500 people per day. In total, the clinics administered 484,560 vaccines to people in need.
Program Manager Jamie Fletcher, who has been with the program since it opened, highlighted how it took a strong team to make the clinic successful.
"It has taken hundreds of staff, dozens of volunteers, and the commitment of innumerable partners to stand these clinics up and keep them operating for nearly two years. This milestone is shared by all of you."
If you are still in need of booking a vaccine appointment, the clinic is suggesting booking an appointment through the online booking system here, or call the toll-free booking number at 1-833-943-3900.
