County residents could be looking at a lower tax rate, but will pay more for garbage in 2014
The average Oxford County homeowner will see a $9.76 decrease on their County taxes next year.
That's the final number, after council approved a 1.03% increase last week.
But with the final tax roll number from MPAC it's a reduction for the average single detached some valued at just over $230,000.
But to get the number down to 1%, County Council added 50-cents to garbage bag tags, starting July 1st.
For households that put out one bag of trash per week, that will add up to a $26 annual increase.
