Over 100 firefighers came out to the Southern Ontario Regional leg of the SCOTT FireFit Championships in Ingersoll
INGERSOLL - It was a weekend of firey competition out in Ingersoll.
Firefighters from across the province came out to show off their skills at the SCOTT FireFit event.
Ingersoll Firefighter and FireFit Organizer Jeff Gatt says events like these are great for the community. "It's a lifestyle. It's about physical fitness, promoting health and fitness in the community and showing kids there's other fun things to do out there other than play video games."
The champs from Hamilton came out to defend their title - and they did so in style. The team holding both the National and World Championship titles from last year came out on top once again, and will now move on to the next stage.
Ian Van Reenen of the Point Edward Fire Department also broke a World Record when he clocked in at one minute, twelve seconds.
Ingersoll was also well represented with most of the department coming out to take part.
Organizers of the event say it's not about winning and losing, but always striving to be better, and to take pride in your physical ability.
