The WPS has some safety tips for everyone, now that Thames Valley and London Catholic students are back in the classroom.
OXFORD COUNTY - Summer holidays are over, and another school year begins.
This means that traffic both on the roads and sidewalks will be busier at certain points of the day.
Community Service Officer for Woodstock Police, Shaylyn Jackson says with the busier traffic it will take everybody to make sure kids get to and from school safely.
"It is really important for people driving in school zones and in residential areas to be mindful of kids that are potentially walking to school. They are out and about, and they might be in groups."
Jackson adds that drivers need to obey the posted speed limits in school zones, as well as the no stopping signs that are posted.
She mentions that kids having a set walking path to and from school is a route parents should take.
"Stick to main roadways if they can, always use the sidewalk. Reviewing the stop, look, and listen, the basic pedestrian skills that your kid should hopefully already know, but if they don't, it's always a good idea to review those things with them as well."
Students in the Thames Valley and London District School Boards will head to the classroom for the first time today (Wednesday, September 6th), while the Providence Catholic School Board had students returned yesterday (Tuesday, September 5th).
