It's been a year since Woodstock's half mile track held a race after Flat Track Canada made their welcomed return.
WOODSTOCK -- Flat Track Canada is back in Woodstock this weekend.
The popular motorcycle racing series returned to the Friendly City's half mile track last year after a lengthy hiatus.
Even though the venue has not hosted a race since Flat Track Canada's event in 2013, crews are working with the Windsor Raceway, Sierra Construction and Woodstock Ag Society to have the track in racing shape by Saturday.
The competition is expected to attract local Southwestern Ontario racers as well as those travelling from as far as Sudbury, Quebec, Michigan and New York. Woodstock's nine year-old Boyd Deadman will be back for second year in a row. The youngster, who has been racing since he was six years-old is preparing for a few rounds on the track. "We know that I'm going to be in 85 and 65 but I want to run 250."
Boyd was awarded the honour of "Most Promising Racer" by the Paris Speedway for 2013. "I felt really proud of myself that I got that reward and I felt happy."
He and his sister Teagan, who is 12 years-old, both race flat track -- Boyd is in his second year with Flat Track Canada and Teagan is competing in her first full year of racing.
Boyd says he still feels nerves while waiting at the starting line. "When you're sitting on the bike waiting to go out, you're nervous and your stomach doesn't feeling well. Once you get on the track it goes away."
Boyd says he enjoys going fast and getting the bike sideways.
