Despite vandalism at the school this week, the Glendale Gemini roll to TVRAA Varsity Football Championship
School spirit prevailed at Glendale High School this week.
With the Gemini hosting the Varsity Football Final today, students arrived earlier this week to find their field had been vandalized.
Overnight, suspects dug several holes on the football field. Principal Jenny VanBommel says it appeared to be an attempt to disrupt today's Varsity Championship. "There were a lot of holes, I didn't count them all. Some were just little divot type holes, some of them...it looked like they were trying to take the goalposts out."
However, the staff and students banded together to repair the holes in time for this afternoon's game. "We called our facilities people, and between our facilities people and with the help of our students, we were able to repair the field to where we were able to have our game today."
And what a game it was for the home team, the Gemini tuned in a Championship performance, beating Westminster 22-0.
In the meantime, VanBommel says they've filed a police report to hopefully get to the bottom of the vandalism.
