49-year-old Trevor Birtch of Woodstock pled guilty after a two-vehicle crash on 31st Line sent one person to hospital with minor injuries in 2023.
WOODSTOCK - Woodstock's former Mayor Trevor Birtch has pled guilty to an impaired driving charge.
Oxford OPP responded to a two-vehicle collision in Zorra Township in October of 2023. It was determined the blood alcohol content of Birtch was over twice the legal limit when the vehicle he was driving collided with a Jeep. When police examined the scene they found a glass of beer in the cup holder and beer splattered in the car of the former Mayor. According to OPP officers, Birtch was too inebriated to recall his name.
One of the lines from Birtch in the courtroom today was "I regret this incident."
The driver of the Jeep in 2023 was sent to hospital with minor injuries.
Birtch was given three months of house arrest, to be followed by 12 months of probation and community service. He is not allowed to drive for one year.
