The MS walk is fast approaching and one team called Buchanan's Helpers is bringing in some serious cash.
WOODSTOCK - A Woodstock mother living with Multiple Sclerosis, is thrilled by her daughter's fundraising efforts for the MS Walk.
Jennifer Buchanan says her daughter and friends raised $675 at a quarter auction they hosted Wednesday night.
It's one of the many events the group called Buchanan's Helpers has planned to help reach their goal.
Buchanan explains how the MS Society has helped her live the past 12 years with MS.
"The MS Society is an incredible, incredible group of people, that have helped educate me. In the past I have needed some aides, some walking aides, there's peer groups, support groups, there is so many things through them."
At just 12 years old, Maddy Buchanan spearheaded the quarter auction to add to the team's efforts. Young Maddy is joined by her close friends Brooke Hatfield and Adreana Rosa-Wayne on Buchanan's Helpers. Mom-Buchanan says the group has gone above and beyond this year, doubling last year's goal.
"This year they set a goal for $4000, their online pledges are over $1000, they have been doing canvassing which has raised $400 or so, and last night's auction raised almost $700. We are well on our way."
The Oxford MS Society Walk is on May 6th. The local goal is to raise $90,000. Donations are accepted online here.
