Future Oxford is looking for 15 community minded volunteers to join their team and you have until Friday June 18th to submit an application.
OXFORD COUNTY - Community minded volunteers are needed to join the Future Oxford team in Oxford County.
Future Oxford launched 6 years ago with a goal to have the County run on 100 percent renewable energy by 2050.
Manager of Strategic Initiatives for Oxford County Dennis Guy says it has grown since then to include zero poverty, zero waste and so much more.
"We have written a workforce readiness report and really kind of broadened the scope of the topics we have been working on."
The group meets every month for a couple of hours, right now it is all being done virtually of course. Guy says Future Oxford is looking for up to 15 new members to take up the role of thought partners, volunteers who will help advance the Future Oxford Plan through collaboration, education and promotion.
“We know that motivated residents can inspire and challenge the way other residents think. We're looking for this enthusiasm and commitment to help foster greater dialogue in the community and help strengthen connections within it. If this speaks to you, we want to hear from you.”
Joint Chair of Future Oxford Bryan Smith says they want community minded people to come on board and help us prepare for the future.
“While we're proud of the work and change we've been able to accomplish through our partners and volunteers, more work needs to be done to bring Oxford County closer to its vision of a sustainable, thriving community. New volunteers with Future Oxford will tackle some of Oxford’s most challenging issues so that we can build a better future for ourselves and for future generations. This means continuing commitment to growing community wellbeing, economic vibrancy and environmental leadership.”
You can find an information package for anyone interested on the Future Oxford website. Applications must be submitted by Friday, June 18, 2021.
