Local politicians and organizations are encouraging everyone to come to the expo, ask questions, and learn about local initiatives.
WOODSTOCK - The Future Oxford Expo is happening today at the Oxford Auditorium.
Everyone is invited to attend this free event and catch a glimpse into the future of Oxford County. Woodstock Mayor Trevor Birtch tells Heart FM he is looking forward to hearing feedback both positive and negative from residents on the sustainability program.
"I want to be there to hear some of the discussions. I know there will be people coming in with the wrong impressions about this, and will be coming in with some challenging talking points, and I think that will help sharpen us up so we know how to how to better focus our efforts on this campaign."
The Expo runs from 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. tonight and will feature a number of guest speakers, about 30 exhibitors, and all of the latest information on what the County is doing with their Future Oxford plan. Birtch says he thinks people will be amazed by the work being done in our community.
"I think for a lot of people what they will be surprised to see is the people we have here will be working on these initiatives, the businesses, the entrepreneurs are really cutting edge right here in Oxford County. People often think that you have to be in Silicon Valley or New York City or some other major urban centre, but what we have here with out unique mix of rural and urban we have a lot of practical solutions that are very cost effective."
