The Oxford County Library will host the inaugural Oxford Reads Gala this Thursday evening.
WOODSTOCK - Readers in Oxford County can look forward to a fun, engaging time at the Oxford Reads Gala.
The inaugural event will be on October 25 and it will feature author Linda Spalding, who will be answering questions on her book The Purchase.
Community Librarian of the Tillsonburg branch of the Oxford County Library, Sydnie Lane said the idea is to bring readers together.
"The Oxford Reads Imitative is a community wide reading initiative that we put together and we modeled it on other similar programs, other library systems have run. So what our hope was to engage library users across Oxford County in discussion and communicate with each other about the books that we chose, which was Linda Spalding's The Purchase."
Lane adds Spalding will address the audience. She is scheduled to appear at 7:00pm.
"It's going to give readers an opportunity to see Linda speak, to ask her questions about her writing and the book, and then later an opportunity for folks to talk to each other during a social portion."
The event is free but the public can contact any OLC branch to reserve their seats. The doors of the Thistle Theatre will open at 6:00pm.
