Oxford OPP were forced to evacuate approximately 120 residents of Drumbo Thursday night. Police say around 9 o'clock, they received a call for assistance from the Drumbo Fire Department after strong gasoline fumes were detected in the area of Harmer Crescent and Prospect Street. The displaced residents were taken to the Drumbo Fire Hall while the Ministry of Environment's Hazardous Material crew used absorbent materials to soak up roughly ten gallons of gasoline that had been dumped into a sewer. Fire crews eventually flushed the sewers with water and the evacuation was lifted around midnight. The OPP and Ministry say their investigation is ongoing and would like to speak with anyone who has information about this incident (OPP 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers 1-800-222-TIPS).
