A local car dealership is going into expansion mode. Glassford Chrysler has purchased a 2-acre parcel of property that fronts Highway 401 in Ingersoll. They've also received the necessary zone change from Ingersoll Council, and plan amendment from Oxford County to use the property to display vehicles. It was previously zoned for industrial use. Owner John Glassford tells Heart FM the process has smoothly. "I think everybody was very supportive, both Ingersoll and Oxford County. The parcel of land that was zoned industrial was a very small piece and I don't think was going to affect the overall industrial outlook for the community. So the town will be able to get some tax revenue...and I'll be able to expand my business, so it's a win-win." Glassford adds the expansion will allow the dealership to acquire a larger inventory of used vehicles. "We want to expand our used car operation. Right now we only carry about 40 used cars, we'd like to carry 100. This gives us room to expand and park about 75 cars. It's a bit of a pie-shape, but it's wider at the 401, so it will give us a real nice display and good exposure. " They expect to have the new land paved by September.
