GM Canada and Unifor Local 88 reached a tentative agreement on Friday that would see the CAMI plant in Ingersoll starting to build electric vans next year.
INGERSOLL - Unifor Local 88 and GM Canada have reached a tentative agreement to start building commercial electric vans at the CAMI plant in Ingersoll.
GM has agreed to invest $1 Billion to begin large scale commercial production of the EV600 electric van starting next year. Unifor National President Jerry Dias says they will have more details on the deal on Sunday.
“This tentative deal delivers significant investment, new products, new jobs, and job security, achieving our union’s key bargaining priorities during these challenging times.”
A ratification vote is scheduled for Monday. If the deal is ratified work will begin immediately to start transforming the plant to build electric vehicles.
