The Thames Valley District School Board is asking everyone to decorate your homes in gold on Thursday June 25 to celebrate the graduating class of 2020.
OXFORD COUNTY - The Thames Valley District School Board is asking everyone to decorate your homes in gold on Thursday June 25.
Residents and businesses are asked to participate in the Go Gold for Grads as way to celebrate the graduating classes of 2020. Obviously this year has been much different than others, and this is away to show our support to local graduates. You can get creative in how you decorate with signs, lights and decorations in gold or yellow colours.
Here is the statement from TVDSB Board Chair Arlene Mordell:
Our Thames Valley District School Board families have faced many challenges during the past few months balancing working from home and emergency learning at a distance. As a board, it was necessary for us to follow government and public health directives to keep students, staff and families safe and as a result, important graduation and commencement ceremonies have been postponed.
Though our ceremonies are postponed, we have a number of system-wide and school level activities planned to celebrate and recognize the Class of 2020 in June.
During the week of June 22nd, the last week of school, we will celebrate the end of this school year for our students in many different ways. We have invited all Thames Valley communities to decorate and light up their properties and businesses in recognition of all students. This will culminate with the Thames Valley Councils of Home and School Associations’ initiative of ‘Go Gold for Grads’ on Thursday, June 25, to specifically recognize the graduating class of 2020, where possible, lights and decorations to be gold or yellow.
As the 2019-2020 school year comes to a close, our goal is to show each of our Thames Valley students how supported, celebrated and recognized they are for their achievements in the midst of an historic time.
