Freya Carroll was diagnosed with stage 3 high grade glioma in December, 2024.
WOODSTOCK - It's the resurgence of a GoFundMe page that was created for a young girl battling cancer in Woodstock.
Freya Carroll was five-years-old when she had a brain tumor removed last December. She was diagnosed with stage 3 high grade glioma, so she underwent an immunotherapy trial in Toronto in hopes of not having to go through chemotherapy or radiation.
That is when her aunt, Laura Bartram, started the GoFundMe page called Support Freya's Journey.
"I wanted to help my sister (Andrea Carroll) out because I knew she's self-employed so she's not going to be working because she'll be in the hospital with her daughter making sure everything is okay. That is her main concern and the same goes with Jason, Freya's Dad."
Freya, now six-years-old, seemed to be doing well but, but Bartram says they got bad news recently.
"They just did a routine MRI and they found that her tumor is growing back. So she's now scheduled to get it out again on Tuesday, September 23rd."
Once this surgery is complete, Bartram says it is likely that Freya will undergo radiation to prevent the tumor from growing back again. She adds the family would also like to undergo this treatment in London because it's closer to home and easier for Freya to maintain a normal routine.
Bartram is encouraging people to donate to the GoFundMe page once again, to help her sister's family as they navigate this challenging time. As of this morning, the page had raised $22,490 since December, 2024.
