Goodlife Kids Foundation is looking for local organizations who need funding for active kids programs.
WOODSTOCK- Goodlife Kids Foundation wants to increase the amount of physical activity Canadian kids are getting.
The Foundation fundraises through events like Spin-for-Kids to provide money to local organizations who need funding for kids programs promoting physical activity.
"How we go about doing that is, through our fundraising events were are able to provide funds to organizations right across Canada that have physical activity programs for kids between the ages of 4 and 14," said Lisa Burrows, Executive Director of Goodlife Kids Foundation.
The grants are open to eligible organizations ranging from charities to elementary schools.
"Essentially we have a grant program where organizations will apply to get some money to support their particular activity that they have undertaken in their community."
Burrows adds this year local Woodstock Goodlife club raised over 30 thousand dollars for the cause. Because of the clubs success it was able to provide funding for local organizations. Only 16 clubs across Canada are chosen.
"Money we raised through our national Spin-4-Kids event is used to provide funds for our grant program this year the Woodstock club was very successful with their event and they were actually one of our top fundraising clubs this year."
In order to be eligible the organization must be a registered charity or considered a qualified donnee that includes example elementary schools. The organization's primary focus must be sustainable physical activity whether it is a full year program or a number of weeks. More than one organization is granted funding, and funds will be issued this year.
The grant application is available at goodlifekids.com and must be completed by August 22nd. Decisions will be made by the end of September.
