The OPP and Woodstock Police would like to offer residents some helpful tips that will make Halloween night safe and fun for everyone.
WOODSTOCK - It's Halloween and the OPP and Woodstock Police would like to give trick-or-treaters some helpful tips to keep the night fun and safe for everyone.
For the children, make sure they're wearing a band of reflective tape on their costumes or bringing a flashlight or glow sticks along with them so they can light their way up through the night. And remember; walk, don't run!
Parents are reminded that although cases of tampered candy are rare these days, it's always a good idea to inspect your children's candy bags when they come home, and that little trick-or-treaters should always be accompanied by an adult.
And for everyone staying at home giving out candy, make sure that your front porch is clear and accessible for all the kids that will be ringing your door that night. It's advised that you keep your cat or dog away from the door on Halloween, because no matter how friendly they may be, irregular doorbell ringing and numerous people at the door may spark unprecedented behaviour. And of course, don't forget to turn your lights on!
