A grey batch of Fentanyl with rainbow colours circulating in Oxford County has been linked to a recent spike in overdoses and hospital visits.
WOODSTOCK - Southwestern Public Health has issued a health advisory over a new batch of Fentanyl resulting in multiple overdoses.
The Health Unit says a grey Fentanyl with rainbow colours has caused significant sedation, requiring multiple doses of naloxone. Rebound response has been observed with this drug, which is a return to overdose symptoms after the first response of nalaxone.
This drug has been linked to a increase in overdoses requiring hospitalization.
Waterloo Region is also warning the public about a dark red/maroon Fentanyl and black Fentanyl that is possibly linked to 5 overdose deaths.
In the case of an overdose you should:
- Call 911
- Give Naloxone if you suspect the overdose was caused by an opioid.
- Stay with and assist the person until paramedics arrive.
- The person should go to the hospital with paramedics for further treatment.
