Heart FM will be broadcasting live for 12 hours for the "Give Thanks to Your Hospital Radiothon".
WOODSTOCK - In less than two weeks, volunteers will be answering calls and accepting donations to raise money for the Woodstock General Hospital at the first ever Give Thanks to Your Hospital Radiothon is set to get underway on October 12 from 6am to 6pm.
Heart Fm is proud to be teaming up with the Hospital Foundation and will be broadcasting live from the hospital.
The goal is to raise funds for the Maternal Child Women's Health Unit.
Senior Development Officer for the Woodstock Hospital Foundation, Jocelyn Jenner tells Heart Fm more about the unit.
"Its a really important department, it's the designated birthing centre in Oxford County, anybody from Tillsonburg, Ingersoll, Woodstock, they all come here to have their babies."
The money raised will be put to good use as the department will be purchasing a bladder scanner, an infant isolette which is like an incubator; a harness for neo-natal transport, a listing device, a drug library and a cardio monitor.
Heart FM General Manager Brian Langston comments about the importance of the event and the community partnership.
"We appreciate being an integral part of the community we serve and we are happy to present an important fundraising event for such a worthy cause. You don't realize how valuable the services of the hospital are until you have to use them, so for us at Heart FM, this is truly what community driven radio is all about, giving back to the community."
Planning for the Heart FM Give Thanks to Your Hospital Radiothon began over one year ago.
To make a donation on October 12th, you can call 519-421-4255 or in person at the hospital, as volunteers will be accepting donations on site.
