It hasn't taken long for summer to turn up the heat. Oxford Public Health has issued a heat for this weekend, with temperatures hitting the 30-degree mark. Saturday's high is expected to hit 30 degrees, and then high's of 32 are projected Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. Humidex values will make it feel closer to 40 degrees, also raising the possibility of smog alerts in the days ahead. Public Health reminds residents to drink plenty of fluids to stay hydrated in the warm weather, and not to perform strenuous activity outdoors to avoid heat stroke. Symptoms include rapid breathing, weakness, and headache. Anyone experiencing physical distress as a result of the heat is asked to go to the Emergency Room right away.
