A fundraiser will take place in Woodstock to raise money for United Way Oxford.
WOODSTOCK - An upcoming barbecue at Adams Building Supply will take you back to 1969.
Hippie Fest will be taking place on Saturday, June 13th, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and all of the proceeds will support United Way Oxford.
This event is sponsored by Marianne Butler and Jennifer Webb of Your Oxford Connection. Megan Porter, the Resource Development Coordinator for United Way Oxford, explains how it came to be.
"Their initial intention was to host a barbecue working in partnership with Adams Building Supply, which is another incredible community supporter here in town. We handed on the theme of Hippie Fest because it illicits a little of that Woodstock feel, of course, the 1969 version of Woodstock anyway."
The day will include hot dogs, hamburgers, prizes, and a kids' zone, but Resource Development Coordinator Megan Porter says they need volunteers to pull it off.
"Whether it's helping with the games, helping with the sales of things for our giveaways, helping with the barbecue, or just some cleanup duties, we would love to have some volunteers."
Those who are interested can email Porter at megan@unitedwayoxford.ca. Interested vendors can also contact Porter for more details.
Porter says those looking for more information regarding the event should keep an eye on the Your Oxford Connection and Adams Building Supply Facebook pages.
