ZORRA TOWNSHIP - Two homes had to be evacuated last after a transport truck carrying hazardous materials on Road 68 in Zorra Township started leaking hazardous materials.
The truck leaked hazardous materials into the ditch. A hazmat team from the London Fire Department is at the scene. Zorra Township Fire Chief McFarlane explains what happened.
"We were called to the scene, a driver had pulled over after he felt his load shift, when he went to the back of his truck and opened the doors, and there was a haze and chemicals leaking out of it so he called 9-1-1. We have London Fire Hazmat on scene and we did evacuate two homes as a precaution."
Crews worked overnight to clean up the mess. Road 68 is still closed between Hwy 119 and 31st Line near Thamesford. Also closed is the 21st Line between Road 68 and Road 66, 25th Line between Road 68 and Road 66 and 23rd Line between Road 68 and 74.
