WPS responded to two separate calls yesterday in the middle of the heat wave, one for a dog left in a vehicle with the windows crack, the other an unattended child left in a running vehicle.
WOODSTOCK - Woodstock Police responded to a complaint of a dog left in a hot vehicle in the middle of a heat wave yesterday.
The windows were cracked, but at this temperature, this could of been fatal for the dog. It does not take long for a dog to get heat stroke in a vehicle. If it is too hot for you, it is too hot for your pet. Please leave them home, where they can access shade and water.
Police were also called to a report of a child left in a vehicle unattended while the vehicle was running. Unattended running vehicles are often targeted for theft and it can happen in a matter of minutes.
