Woodstock Minor Hockey is hoping for a full house to start off the Major Atom OHF championship this Friday night.
WOODSTOCK - Woodstock Minor Hockey is hosting the Alliance Championships for the Major Atom Single A OHF.
Opening ceremonies is happening on Friday night at 7 pm and the Woodstock team will be playing right after the ceremonies. President of Woodstock Minor Hockey Michael Collins tells Heart FM they are really hoping to see a packed house this weekend.
"What we have offered is anyone who shows up with jerseys on, kids, coaches can get in for free but unfortunately with the guidelines from the OHF we have to charge admission but we are willing to cut the price down to $5 to come in and watch that game, just to fill the ice and support the kids."
Collins says they the tournament will run all weekend and the finals will take place on Sunday. All of the games this weekend will take place at the Community Complex in Woodstock. He says they really want to make the opening ceremony a bid deal for the kids.
"They do play more on the weekend but because of the opening ceremonies, all the teams come onto the ice for that and then right after that they play so to just fill the stands would be overwhelming for the kids and a great experience."
He also wanted to congratulate the Peewee Double A team from Woodstock who are playing in their own OHF tournament this weekend in Oakville.
