Oxford county residents filled Memorial Park in Ingersoll Saturday for a protest against the proposed massive landfill at the Beachville Quarry. The march took the hundreds from the park, through the streets and all the way to Walker Industries office in the town, who is proposing to create the landfill. People chanted "save our water", and "no more dumps" along the way. The march continued to the site where the landfill would go, in a pit at the Beachville Quarry. Ben Lampkin, the community organizer and Facebook group creator for "Protest the Dump" said "We have the resources, we have the will power, we're going to fight this thing until the end." And Media Liaison Sarah Crellin said "The impact is already being felt, property value is being effected as well as tourism and attracting new businesses." The plans are still in the preliminary stages, but Oxford county residents are still concerned. The landfill would be the fourth largest in all of Canada.
