Tavistock residents who were affected by a power outage during an electrical storm earlier this summer can expect to be in the dark again tonight. Erie Thames Power will be replacing a transformer tonight, taking out a temporary unit that was installed after the July 26th storm. A transformer took a direct lightning strike at around 2AM during an intense thunderstorm. Crews tried to fix that transformer, but it wound up failing, necessitating the temporary transformer. Erie Thames President Chris White says it's been an expensive ordeal. "Total damages are upward of $150,000. Now, insurance will cover a majority of those costs, which is a good thing." But, the final fix means the power will be out for half of the community between 7 and 11 o'clock tonight. White says they determined that would be the best time to go offline, after speaking with community members and business owners.
