West Region OPP, which includes Oxford County, charged 15 people with impaired driving to kick off the Festive RIDE season.
OXFORD COUNTY - The OPP are very discouraged by the early results of the Festive RIDE campaign.
Over the weekend, West Region OPP, which includes Oxford County conducted 78 RIDE checks. As a result, 15 drivers were charged with impaired driving and another 7 drivers received a 3 day licence suspension for registering above the warn range.
In all, there were 42 impaired driving charges laid across the province on the first weekend of the campaign. We can confirm that at least a couple of those charges happened in Oxford County.
This year's OPP Festive RIDE Campaign runs from November 23, 2019 to January 2, 2020. During the campaign, OPP officers will be highly visible as they conduct RIDE initiatives 24 hours a day, 7 days a week throughout the province.
