Things are about to get a little more comfortable at City Hall. Council approved the purchase of a new cooling tower for the building which is used for air conditioning and works by supplying chilled water throughout the building. The old unit is 30-years-old and at the end of it's life. The new unit is estimated to cost just over $72,000. Council approved the purchase on Thursday night, and won't put the project out to tender. The estimate from Culliton, who has been providing ongoing maintenance on the current system, was lower than the $80,000 budgeted for the new unit in the city's capital budget.
