The Town of Ingersoll has been recognized by the Share the Road Coalition for their ongoing work to be bicycle friendly.
INGERSOLL - The Town of Ingersoll has won a Bronze Level Bicycle Friendly Community Award from the Share the Road Cycling Coalition.
A bronze level was given to the town for its efforts to create a safe community for people who like to cycle. Director of Parks and Recreation Bonnie Ward tells Heart FM they are thrilled with a bronze designation and hope to get to a gold level soon.
"We are going to continue with a wide variety of events for the Ingersoll community to participate in with the 2017 June Bike Month. We are going to go with Canada's 150th celebration and go with red and white themed events. We have pretty well 2 or 3 events planned every week during the month of June for cyclists."
Ingersoll applied for a bike friendly status almost 2 years ago and were given an honourable mention. They have done a lot of work to make the Town more accessible to cyclists and that was honoured with the bronze level designation.
