The Town of Ingersoll is feeling disappointed as an application for funding was not granted by the province.
INGERSOLL - The Town of Ingersoll is feeling disappointment.
This comes as the Ministry of Sport made the decision not to approve the Town's application to the Community Sport and Recreation Infrastructure Fund. Many projects were submitted for funding, and the Town says it is difficult to understand how such a comprehensive and broadly beneficial initiative did not meet the criteria for support. Mayor, Brian Petrie says what he is feeling based on the decision.
"It’s extremely disappointing and sad that the province failed to see what this funding and project means to our community and our partners."
Petrie adds the Town will continue to look for options to get the MURC built.
"I invite every resident to join me in sharing their disappointment with the province by contacting them and sharing what this decision means for our community."
The Town will look at what this decision means for the timeline of the Multi-Use Recreational Centre project and the larger goals of the property. Ingersoll is committed to moving the project forward as the need for the facility hasn’t changed.
