INGERSOLL - As the Province begins to lift more restrictions as of Friday, the Town of Ingersoll is adapting to keep everyone safe as they look at reopening splash pads and restaurant patios.
With the heat rolling in cries for the opening of swimming polls and splash pads are becoming more frequent. Council has decided to open splash pads in the town, with extra measures in place.
Mayor Ted Comiskey says life has changed on many fronts.
"There is a balance here you have to kind of look at from our point of view, and that is having society get back to what we call the norm, and certainly with the heat having splash pads available, but on the other side, the virus is not gone."
Comiskey says town staff will be around the parks regularly making sure people are practicing social distancing and they will ensure the equipment stays clean.
With restaurants being allowed to open patios as of Friday, it is not as simple as just dragging tables and chairs outside.
Ingersoll Council heard from a number of restaurateurs who are trying to figure out what rules apply to this new reality. Comiskey says there are a number of things they need to think about and insurance is just one of them.
