The Swenney family are looking to move into their new home by March
INGERSOLL - With the completion of the Woodstock build, Habitat for Humanity Heartland is setting their sites back on Ingersoll.
Chief Executive Officer of Habitat for Humanity Heartland Ontario, Jeff Duncan, explains just how far along they are and when it is going to be complete. "We are doing well, actually this fall has been every kind to us from a starting point, we have had unusually good and mild weather, and it is looking good for the next week or so. It is right on track on where we were hoping to be at this point, we always get a little hesitant this time of year because you don't know what kind of winter it is going to be but we are hoping some time in late March."
Duncan spoke to Heart FM about the outpouring support from the community. It has been phenomenal on many levels and they have been quite independent as far as pulling the trades together, the donours, the materials and the site is being well managed. I understand lots of donations are rolling in but we always need more money, and we always need more volunteers."
With the group being right on schedule with their latest build, Duncan talks about the challenges of building through the winter and the family that will get to live in the new home. "Every year for the last 4 or 5 years we've built through the winter in some form, we try to get the houses closed in before the snow fly's. The Ingersoll house is for the Sweeney family, it is a great story, they are from Oxford County and the daughter is with myotonic muscular dystrophy and we are designing some things in the house to accommodate them for the future for the kids."
