Plans for a brand new multi-plex for the Town of Ingersoll has hit a snag.
INGERSOLL - The Town of Ingersoll has asked Zorra Township to get on board with a brand new Multi-Plex on 99th North Town Line East.
The land is in Zorra and right now it is zoned for agricultural use, the town has asked them to consider changing the zoning to recreational use.
Kathleen Young owns the 56 acre parcel of land and has agreed to sell it to the town of Ingersoll until December 31st of this year. The deal needs to go down before then because the town cannot purchase land in an election. In the deal Young has agreed to give back $500,000 to the town for the naming rights of the multi-plex.
Young says they are asking for residents to get behind the project.
"We have started an e-petition that we put up on Facebook and that went well and we also have written petitions, there available at Young's pharmacy in Ingersoll, Lesser Brothers Jewellers in Ingersoll, the Ingersoll Seniors Centre and at Anderson's Appliance."
Young says they have made a deputation to Zorra council requesting the change from agricultural use to recreational use. They will be bringing their petition back to a Zorra council meeting in the Fall.
The proposed multi-plex would have a twin pad arena, indoor walking track, gym, soccer fields, baseball diamonds and an outdoor running track.
