It's a good day to be Ingersoll's Mayor. Ted Comiskey says GM's $250-million announcement is bringing smiles to the faces of everyone in the town today. He says it's the announcement solidifies the plant's future, and he says that investment will have a major trickle down effect. "Right along the line, whether it's for housing, or for shopping or for groceries, you name it. But what it does is that in the additional manufacturing that's going to be required, it gives Oxford County and especially Ingersoll to maybe have some additional industries." Comiskey is also sending out a personal "Thank You" to GM for the investment, and tells Heart FM why he believes this will have a long term impact for the town. "The type of equipment that's going in is going to be capable of handling multiple products. That's the guarantee right there. What this does, is really holds tight the importance of this plant for GM." However, Ingersoll won't be hitting the jackpot when it comes to issuing building permits, and new taxation on the CAMI expansion. The building is expanding on the South-West-Oxford side of the municipal boundary.
