Two tax instalment dates have been set for the end of March and June in Oxford County.
Oxford County council has enacted the interim tax levy by-law which authorizes tax instalment due dates for 2016.
The first tax instalment will be due on Thursday March 31st, while the second instalment is due on Thursday June 30th. Warden David Mayberry tells Heart FM why they authorize these deadlines every year.
"Really the by-law simply says that the first quarter of your taxes is due by March 31st, which sends a message to the lower tiers that they need to have their tax notices out in time so that they can collect that money. It is a by-law to say that the lower tiers will provide in this case about $13 million to the county so they know when to get there tax notices out."
Mayberry says the levy by-law will ensure the County has cash flow to meet current expenditures until the final tax bills are calculated in July.
