INGERSOLL - Team Kean, representing the Ingersoll Curling club is off to a 1-1 start at the Port Elgin Chrysler Ontario Tankard.
The winner of the triple knockout bonspiel will represent Ontario at the Brier. Mark Kean is the only member actually from Ingersoll. He started curling when he was 7 years old in Woodstock.
Kean led a team to the Brier in 2015, finishing with a record of 5 and 6. He is trying hard to make it back. His next opponent this afternoon is a young team from Whitby Team Ferris.
Kean explains what they need to do to make sure they are playing late into the weekend.
"We have two more lives essentially, we can't afford to lose two games, so we need to keep winning and see what happens."
They have 4 games to go, so they need to win out to guarantee a spot in the final 4 page playoff. The competition is fierce at the tankard this year. Ontario is a deep Province with lots of talent. The favourites right now include Glen Howard and Mark Epping.
