Woodstock City Council will discuss Additional Residential Units and distribute $80,000 worth of community grants during this Thursday's meeting.
WOODSTOCK - It's a lighter council agenda for Woodstock City Council, now that budget season has officially ended.
Mayor Jerry Acchione says council also decided on a new game plan for the Downtown Woodstock Streetscape Master Plan, which will be financed by debenture.
"We cut it down. So instead of a $7.4 million project, we cut it down to a $2.7 million section so we can get our feet under us, see what that looks like, and get the general public's opinion once we get it going."
This Thursday's council agenda includes discussions around additional residential units and the community grant recipients for Spring 2024.
Acchione says the city is distributing a total of $80,000 to local clubs and organizations.
"So we take a portion of what the OLG slots give to the city and we give it back to our community partners who are doing different things. The grants committee has a very tough job of narrowing down all of those requests."
The city distributed more than $84,000 worth of community grants in Fall 2023. Thirteen local organizations received the funding including Operation Sharing, Ingamo Homes, the Woodstock Curling Centre and Oxford County Pride.
Thursday's meeting should begin at 1:30 p.m. and it will be livestreamed on the City of Woodstock YouTube Channel. Acchione says the agenda will be posted online here tomorrow.
During his interview with Marcie and Kaitlin this morning, Mayor Acchione also discussed the following:
- How his Easter was.
- His recent vacation to Florida.
- A new four-way stop for the intersection of Peel Street and Young Street.
