During his interview with Dan and Marcie this morning, Mayor Jerry Acchione talked about some of the budget presentations that will be taking place during this Thursday's City Council meeting.
WOODSTOCK - Budget discussions are continuing at Woodstock City Hall.
Two budget meetings took place last week and they were both over three hours long.
Mayor Jerry Acchione says the Woodstock Art Gallery, the Woodstock Public Library, and the Woodstock Police Service will present their proposed budgets to Council during their meeting this Thursday.
"With the Woodstock Police Services Board, there is going to be some changes. It's no secret that the City of Woodstock is growing so they're going to touch on that with some of the needs they have identified and going to request."
Woodstock Police would like to add another 10 officers throughout the year and it's proposing a net budget of over $19,430,909 for 2023.
Acchione says Council has already received the budget proposal from the Woodstock Fire Department.
"They are requesting four more officers immediately and another four by next year. So that way they can run with a minimum of nine (officers) per shift."
Woodstock City Council is hoping to approve the budget on March 16th.
You can find the agenda for this Thursday's City Council meeting online here. The meeting will begin at 1:30 p.m. and you can livestream it on the City of Woodstock YouTube Channel.
During his interview with Dan and Marcie this morning, Mayor Acchione also talked about the following:
- The final results for Woodstock's Coldest Night of the Year fundraiser and attending the Curl for Safety Bonspiel on Saturday.
- The new transit schedule that will be implemented next week.
- His experiences with VR gaming with his friends and family.
