The Woodstock Fair is coming back for it's 183rd year starting on Thursday evening. It is free to enter the fairgrounds and take part in the events, with the exception of the midway.
WOODSTOCK - The 183rd edition of the Woodstock Fair kicks off on Thursday
Manager of the Woodstock Agricultural Society Maria Reese explains why they made this a free event again this year.
"We make it free to support our community and allow families to come to the fair over and over again. It was a decision our board made when we were celebrating Canada's 150th birthday and it really resonated with people, that they were able to come in and experience the different things the fair had to offer but the only time they had to spend money was at the midway and what that does, it allows people to come back every day."
The fair will feature a full midway, Demo Derby, Holstein and horse shows, lawn mower races, movies, Old Macdonald's barn and so much more. Thursday is toonie rides and they will have bracelets available for kids to ride all day on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Reese says they will have some events at the grand stand as well.
"So in front of the grandstands we will have the horse show, we will have lawn mower races, we will have our demo derby on the Sunday. We are also going to have agility dogs this year as well."
