A bottle drive and bake sale will be held for local teenager Brandon Killam. He suffers from cerebral palsy, along with other health conditions, and the proceeds will go to help Brandon's family pay for his medical bills and help improve his way of living.
WOODSTOCK - Keeping Up With Brandon is a bottle drive and bake sale happening on Saturday August 29th for 18-year-old Brandon Killam.
Brandon has been diagnosed with cerebral palsy and suffers from epilepsy, asthma, ABS, TMJ disfunction and club feet. All of the money raised at the bake sale will go towards helping the family pay for his medical bills and help to improve Brandon's way of living.
His cousin Kaitlyn Howling explains why she organized this fundraiser.
"He has been a big part of my life, he is like a brother to me. He has been great to me and supportive his whole life. I wanted to do something for him and show him how much I care about him and actually help him. I came up with the idea of doing a bottle drive and it expanded. We discussed many things, my sister is going to help out with the bake sale. I have a lot of friends who are going to help out as well."
Howling says Brandon has had a hard life.
"I will admit I have had to cry a few times on my own, because of how hard it gets for Brandon but everybody has learned to overcome these challenges as a family. We are hoping the event will show people what it can be like for anyone going through medical issues and hopefully it will be fun, raise awareness about Brandon's condition and raise some money for the family as well."
The fundraiser is happening in Blandford-Blenheim at 746112 Township Road 4 at the front office from 11 am to 3 pm. If you can't make the event, you can donate on the GoFundMe page here. They will have plenty of space to allow for social distancing and everyone is asked to wear a mask if you are able to do so.
