Woodstock Mayor Trevor Birtch has asked Acting Mayor Connie Lauder to chair council meetings and fulfill some of his other mayoral duties for him for the time being.
WOODSTOCK - Mayor Trevor Birtch is taking a step back from some of his mayoral duties with the City of Woodstock.
Acting Mayor Connie Lauder will be chairing council meetings and fulfilling other duties for him until further notice. She made the announcement at the start of last night's budget meeting.
Mayor Birtch was charged with assault, sexual assault and sexual assault with choking earlier this month. He has not released a public statement on the matter since.
Lauder is a long-standing Woodstock City Councillor and she was appointed to the Acting Mayor position earlier this year. The Acting Mayor is responsible for attending events and filling in when the Mayor is unable to do so. City Council appoints a new Acting Mayor each year.
